Counting...5,4,3,2,1

As the semester draws to and end my days to visiting the Motherland,Zimbabwe are near. I am so excited, have been counting down from 3months and excitement has been building up as the day I arrive home draws near.

My mini countdown 2exams to go,7days to go till I set foot on my homeground. I can't wait to see all the so missed familiar faces, have all the african delicacies(cooked or roasted mealie cob), smell the fresh rain on the ground and endless other things. Visiting Africa in December you know what that means,I'm going to have two summers in one year..woohoo

Different shades of Grey/Gray

I have been searching high and low for a blazer and last Thursday I came across this one at H&M. I was super excited and couldn't quite decide on which blazer to pick since H&M has a whole variety out at good prices too.
I eventually decided on purchasing this one since I can do both with this blazer (dress it up or dress it down)
I love the gold buttons on the blazer.5 of them are just for design purposes and the 6th one can be used  to button it up of just leave the blazer be.The blazer has designs inside too, I love to roll up the sleeves a bit adds a different look altogether.
Below is how I paired the blazer with my recent shoe Steve Madden purchase from Ross.

Everytime I have pictures taken one of my leg always strikes up a pose of its own. It has come to be known as my leg signature pose.

New Shoes:Steve Madden

I traveled to the States recently to do a lil shopping. Had been planning this trip for the longest as I had to patiently wait for my passport and it came in time for some Christmas shopping.

Went into Ross,my oh my I found myself some shoes, two and did I just fall in love with them. Was looking for knee high boots but I didn't quite manage to find myself  pair and I was like Oh well no Knee High boots I might as well purchase the Steve madden pair I had set my eyes on.

You definately will be seeing more these shoes soon. Love love the heel details they have and so love that I can pair them with a couple of clothes from my closet.

One can never go wrong with a pair of Steve Madden shoes.

Bloggers Do It Better: Military Chic

I have been following the Bloggers do it better challenges over the past few months but somehow I always got caught and didn't manage to take part and yes sometimes I didn't have the right outfit put together to participate in the challenge. I enjoy always clicking over and checking out the challenges and seeing how other bloggers are taking it up.

Enough rambling on, I had a rather relaxed day at home working through my assignments and watching random movies. So this time the challenge was Military Chic put up by Pretty Shiny Sparkly and here are the pics of me taking part in the challenge.

Its been raining a lot in Vancouver and there was no better place to have my pictures taken other than the balcony.

Mary Janes'

The whole week I was thinking of wearing m Mary Jane's for church but till Sunday morning I had not decide what I was going to pair the shoes with. Well. this morning I tried my Mary Jane';s with two other outfits and this is what I came up with.
Temperatures in Vancouver have been dropping down but one can spend a few minutes without the jacket unlike in other parts of Canada. On another note I enjoyed the praise in church today and the sermon was great. Sundays are always days to relax, hang out with friends and just do some of the stuff one cant do on regular days

I enjoyed putting this outfit together
(Shoes kinda slide up when I wear them but they are comfortable)
After a few shots I decided to throw on my jacket.

The Four Agreements-Don Miguel Ruiz

I recently picked up this book The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz and was fascinated by the summary. I didn't just leave my fascination there I decided to read through the book and see what it has to offer. In short the book is about realizing some of the stuff in our lives that hinder us from having the joy we all desire in life.

In the book Don has four points that he mainly focuses on that can help change ones life to a life of happiness, giving love to others, embracing and loving life. In the next few weeks I hope to share with you what I read and how it relates to my life.

Don's four points ar
Be impeccable with your word
Don't take anything personally
Don't make assumptions
Always do your best

I know in our daily lives we practice these consciously or subconsciously but I decided to look through my life as I read through this book.

A Secret Getaway

My weekend was filled with so much fun which included chilling, shopping, going out and more celebrations. It was my friend's birthday too.Sometimes you just need to get away, go to some different place, pretty much just some fresh air  and relax from the busy schedule.

The birthday girl already had made plans for the day and I was in for a fun filled night. During the day we were just up and about doing some last minute shopping and catching up. So to start the night out we were going to have dinner and then go for drinks after. We are all different and the way we celebrate our special days and have fun differs. So my friend is not the clubbing time but more of a person who tries out food from different places and recommends a good restaurant whenever possible. This time the restaurant that she picked out was Guu, a Japanese restaurant.

Since it was cold I decided to wear my skinny jeans, heels, black sheer top, a blue top inside and my black leather jacket. This was a simple look altogether. Thanks to my friend for doing my hair I didn't have to worry much about my hair this night.

Unfortunately we arrived there late and waiting time was about 40minutes so we decided to leave and try out some Korean food. I enjoyed the meal, the talks we had. After our dinner we headed out for drinks at two different locations.

Wish my friend many more years to come.

Sunset Dreams

I bought a really pretty nail polish at H&M.  The color is “Sunset Dreams Orange” and I'm liking it. Well it is a summer color but who puts the rules on the nail polish you apply when you feel like it.

I walked into H&M looking to buy a top or something and while in line waiting to pay for my top my eyes  saw this vibrant color. I knew I had to get it and the price just nailed it down to the polish making its way to the counter and straight into my bag. It was about $1.95. I have a collection of nail polish but for some reason I did not have the orange color.

I usually just color my toe nails but yesterday I just felt the need to color my finger nails too. Yeah difficult it is to color the left hand nails but I would like to think I did a somewhat good job.

Retro Flared Jeans

Temperatures have been falling slowly and with Vancouver you never know when next you going to have a dry day and when it comes one might as well take the day in and pretty much do what you love doing. Not that rainy days stop me from dressing up,nope but when temperatures drop I have to bundle up so when dry sunny days I take it on me to wear my summer tops.

Since the semester started most of my days are all about attending classes and when I do not have classes I attend to my part-time job. SO some time last week we had good weather meaning no rain just sunny and chilly days and I thought to myself when better can I wear my flared jeans and my summer tops.

I'm so in love with these jeans though they are long I prefer not to have them hemmed or anything. This leaves me with one option when I want to wear them HIGH HEELS. So yeah I wore my flared jeans ,summer top and heels to uni the other day. The whole outfit just had me feeling all happy all in all. Not that I'm not always happy but my classmate was like, "why you so bubbly," for some reason it seemed like I was a bit jumpy(jumpy om the happy bubbly side).

Unfortunately the jeans are just too long they are literary covering the shoes but I'm so in love with these shoes.Super comfy shoes, liked the price tag and they go along well with a lot of my clothes. On another day I have been having bad hair days of late and I thought of just tying a ponytail so I took out my cornrows and left the ends all curled up.

M.A.C. Bits

Talk about being a late bloomer I know I'm one.Didn't really like make up but in the past year I have taken a liking into applying makeup. I do not like so much makeup, just love the not so va va voom looks that shout I'm here but just something that looks good on me.

I have tried different makeup brands but of late I have fallen in love with the M.A.C products. M.A.C products are a bit pricey but I'm taking the buying one step at a time. Thanks to a friend,Courteney my collection is growing. Courteney sent us a box of makeup products and each of the Young Women's Ministry members had a chance to pick a product they wanted. I picked the Big Bounce SPREAD THE WEALTH Eye Shadow. Its a liquid eye shadow something I have never used before and I can't wait to use it.

I mentioned adding to my collection, well a couple of weeks ago I stopped by the M.A.C store and got myself the Rubenesque Paint Pot. I really love the color and what it does to my eyes when I apply it. This was the first product that gave me the nudge to continue trying more of M.A.C products and I look forward to doing so.

I'm looking forward to using my the M.A.C and getting my game on on the smokey eye makeup effect that I love so much sometime soon.

Summer Road Trip

2011 summer was another summer I enjoyed,to think when summer began I was trying to work on some stuff that didn't work and not focusing on other stuff. Well at least if some stuff didn't work and the other worked that sure counts as a good summer. Some of the places visited I had never heard of them but I think they are worth visiting. These places have a story behind them, something that sure puts them on the map.

We drove all the way from Vancouver to Fort St John,BC,did some sightseeing, hang out with friends. During our week stay in FSJ we visited Hudson's Hope.

Hudson's Hope is the land of dinosaurs and dams. This is where the W.A.C Bennett dam is situated, a place the Lower Mainland of BC  and other areas in BC generate electricity. We received a tour of how the plant works, saw dinosaur footprints and enjoyed the scenery the place has to offer.

Dinosaur prints
After the tour we decided to have lunch and just relax in the park. I enjoyed the drive back and forth.

Heading back home to Vancouver BC, we took a different route through Jasper,AB. The drive through is so spectacular, breathtaking and so worth the drive.

Mountain Goats

Next time when we are not in a rush I want to take the time to visit the National Park and sight see the town of Jasper.

Bonfire Night

Well, I know I know it wasn't that big of a fire but just to soothe myself I want to call it a bonfire. Leslie and her husband invited us to their place after dinner just to relax, have a couple of drinks and roast marshmallows. My whole trip out in Fort St John I had a whole list of stuff I wanted to partake in and roasting marshmallows was on the list.

So Leslie's husband started the fire and locked up his huge dogs.I'm not so much of a dog fan such that I freak out when they come close to me. Every time I'm close to dogs and cats I never pretend to like the animals. Once the dogs were locked I was ready to sit by the fire and get a one on one on how to roast marshmallows.

Getting all started
Smoke was defiinitely getting into my eyes but I was determined to roast the marshmallow and get a taste of it all roasted. The trick to roasting marshmallows is to keep turning the marshmallow while sticking it into flames and make sure it doesn't burn.
HAd to blow the marshmallows before I ate them. Roasted marshmallows are a sweet summer delicacy. It was a fun night just sitting by the far ,talking, laughing, sipping on some red wine.Had an opportunity to catch the Northern Lights though the best time to see the whole Northern Lights effects is winter time.

Unfortunately we had to cut the night short as we all had to get some sleep in preparation for the long drive back to Vancouver,BC.

Fort St John BC: Lookout & Dinner

Oh how I love it when the weather gets warmer and I can go out and enjoy nature. This summer I managed to travel fr and wide, meet lots of new people and just experience the BC outdoor life. So this summer my major road trip highlight was Fort St John and surrounding areas. I sure enjoyed my week there, as you might have noticed in my older posts.

While standing at the lookout I just took the time to take in the beautiful landscape and of course pose for some pics. The lookout is at the edge and if you look down there is a cliff or steep hill I must say where you can find bushes, grass, people's garbage and Saskatoon berries growing there. I really don't understand why people would come dump their stuff when the city has dump sites. I found this interesting how the city is unable to have someone maintain the grass as the area looking down is steep so they hired a  some guy  with goats to have his 1400 goats come graze in the area. The owner of the goats gets paid a $1 for every goat and all he does is bring the goats to the area ,watch over them and have his shepherd dog bring them up when its time to go home. People sure do make money in different ways.

After enjoying the view and feeling the wind breeze it was time to go have dinner at Jackfish Dundees Pub Charlie Lake,BC. I don't usually order Beef Burgers when I go out to dine but this time around I decided to try out the JFD sirloin burger and sweet potato fries. Most of the meat is from farms in around Charlie Lake which only means one thing right. Overall the meal was delicious. After dinner we were up to more adventure hehe.

More about the evening adventure .

Distressed Jean Shorts 2

Another visit to the beach and I saw myself grabbing my summer favorite shorts again. Since it was a rather hot day I decided to pair it with a tank top and my favorite Blue Notes belt.

Lots of people always question why when I pose I always seem to do something with my leg.Well I guess its something that I just got so used to doing and can't seem to shake off.

Distressed Jean Shorts

A little late I know but its better late than never right. Summer was so much fun, enjoyed every bit of it and I took advantage of the warm days and wore all the shorts and skirts and sandals I could. Had my summer favorite which were the ripped shorts.

First occasion I wore them to go to the mall and watch a movie. The shorts are not too tight, perfect fit and are perfect for any occasion as you can either dress them up with a pair of heels and the right top or dress them down with a t-shirt and sandals.
